It still doesn’t fully feel like spring, but now is a great time to re-up on spring basics and to do spring cleaning. These spring wardrobe essentials are great to dress up or down and to wear during this transitional time between warm and cool days. Investing in great staple pieces for spring is always a great idea. Staple pieces can be worn throughout the seasons, and when you invest in quality items, they can be apart of your wardrobe for years to come. When you have the right basics, it makes building outfits easier, they are like a blueprint or foundation to a sustainable wardrobe.
Here are a few Spring basic pieces that you should invest in this season:
Trench coats are a must for spring and great investments because they can be worn during the spring and fall. Trench coats can be worn with graphic tees, jeans and sneakers for a more casual look or dressed up with dresses, blouses, wide leg slacks and heels. How ever you choose to style a trench this season, it will automatically make you feel and look well put together. Trench coats are a great investment to add to your work wardrobe for those who have returned back to the office and are looking for pieces to buy. A trench in the traditional khaki/ taupe color or any bright color is the perfect coat during this time of year. It is not quite a “wind breaker” but also not a heavy coat.
Button up shirts
You can never go wrong with a basic button up shirt, a white one specifically. Button up shirts can honestly be worn in all 4 seasons, but it is just something about a crisp white button up in the spring. Button up shirts automatically bring chic vibes, especially paired with trench coats and great denim. It is a good idea to have multiple shirts in your spring rotation. We all know that sometimes keeping white clothes clean can be a challenge, so it is great to have different ones to choose from during the season. Lastly, button up shirt dresses also fall into this category. They are so minimal and chic! Shirt dresses are an elevated piece to add to your spring wardrobe that do not have to break the bank. They are cute when styled with heels, a bright color bag and denim or leather moto jacket thrown over your shoulders.
Basic denim is definitely on the list of must haves for spring, especially light wash jeans. There are so many different options and styles of denim to choose from that fits into your personal style best. Distressed denim works well for spring if you are interested in showing skin, and to add extra flavor to a casual look. Here are some jean styles to look for in case you are on the hunt for new denim this season: straight leg, wide leg, baggy paper bag, high and low rise jeans.
Loafers are always in style, they are what we call classics. It is a great transitional shoe for the season and can be worn with different looks. Investing in a good quality loafer is a must, with a variety of styles to choose from. If it is your first time investing in loafers, it is best to start with a basic black pair. Black loafers are a basic that can be worn to work but also to brunch in the city with friends. If you are looking for affordable loafer options check out the links below:
Thinking of denim jackets may seem basic but they are always an important outerwear piece to have in your wardrobe. Light wash denim jackets work well for spring, because they are light and airy, just like the season. They can be dressed up or down and automatically bring looks together with minimal to no effort, a one and done piece. Depending on what styles you prefer and if you are searching for an edge, try a distressed or cropped denim jacket this season.
