This post is all about simple ways to save money.

Have a daily spending limit

Set a limit of how much money you wish to spend in a day and make sure you stick to it. Try your hardest not to go over the limit unless a there is a special circumstance.

Eliminate unnecessary subscriptions and apps

App subscriptions add up quick and before you know it, you are spending money each month for apps you don’t even use. In your phone, check in the subscriptions section and see which apps you have active subscriptions to can cancel the ones you never use. I am sure there are a few apps that you forgot to cancel or don’t even open anymore.

Shop sales

Shopping semiannual sales or keeping an eye out for amazing discounts is worth the wait. If you are into designer items, there are plenty of apps/sites where you can get them at a lower price or pre-owned.

Buy groceries instead of eating out

This is something I need to work on. I can literally get groceries and then go out to eat that night! Whewww, it’s a sickness. But when I make commitments to myself to only buy groceries, it saves so much. Those fancy dinners add up quick, but the ingredients you buy from the grocery store will last longer for way less.

DIY things

Try to do your nails and your hair for a little while and see how the savings add up. There are a lot of nail kits on Amazon that will save you money in the long run. I own a gel manicure light and I am able to do my own gel mani’s, which last for a couple of weeks. It’s also fun to add into your self-care routing.

Switch your lightbulbs to LED lights

Switching to LED lights will save on your overall monthly electricity bill. I have LED lights in my home and I can definitely save this works!

Sell old clothes online

Everyone has a few items in their closet that they don’t wear anymore. Do an inventory of your items and see which items you haven’t worn in the past year. Sell what you haven’t used on resell sites and make some quick bucks.

Set savings goals

This is one of the best ways to save money – visualizing what you are saving for. If it helps, set smaller goals to reach the overall larger goal. If you have a goal to buy a house, you can write down what you need for the down payment and what you need to save each month to get there.

Pack your lunch

This one is a no-brainer money saving tip. If you buy your lunch every day at work, you are spending over $1,000/year on food. That money could be used to add to a savings/retirement fund or college plan for kids.

Use YouTube University when you need to fix something

I am big on fixing things or putting things together myself. Even if you do not know how to do something, there is a tutorial for EVERYTHING on YouTube. You can definitely surprise yourself!

Pick days where you don’t spend any money

There are plenty of places or things you can do that are free. You can visit the beach, have a movie night or look up free entertainment in your city.

Cancel your gym membership and workout at home

Gym memberships may seem cheap but at the end of the year they will have added up. You can save that money and work out at home.

Buy generic

This is easily one of the best ways to save money. Most times, the only difference is the marketing and packaging. Generic brands of medication, staple food items, cleaning supplies and paper goods are all really the same as the name brand items.

Save money automatically with apps

There are a lot of money saving apps or apps that give you cash back. Digit is a great app to help you save. Each day/week, the app withdraws a small amount of money and automatically deposits in your savings account. Before you know it, you have a large savings and you wouldn’t have even noticed the small withdrawals. Another app that is great for saving is Dosh. Dosh is a free cash back reward app that rewards you for shopping, dining out and booking hotels. You can sign up here using my sign-up link

Skip the coffee shops

This one is going to be painful for a lot of people, but you have to leave the Starbuck’s alone lol. Just think, you can save that $5-$8/day and make your coffee at home. That right there is a big savings in itself.
