Y’all know I always find the cutest events to go to and put y’all on! Well, if you are in the LA area, you must visit Candytopia. It is such a fun, cute and interactive pop up museum to visit with friends or family. The kids would love it especially! I mean what kid would pass up an entire museum made of nothing but candy!
A quick description of the museum …
What if an eccentric chocolatier and a daredevil pop star had a whirlwind romance, got married while skydiving, and had a glamorous, glittering love child who grew up to rule a small nation? THAT is Candytopia, where colossal candyfloss constructions meld with a tantalizing taffy twistedness! The museum was tastefully curated by Hollywood Candy Queen Jackie Sorkin, realized by master fabricator Zac Hartog, and brought to life by life-long retailer, John Goodman. This four-month interactive art installation celebrates the vibrant colors and flavors of our favorite sugary delights across over a dozen environments, from flying unicorn pigs to a marshmallow tsunami.
If that description doesn’t make you want to give it a try, I don’t know what will. When you first enter the museum, you immediately feel like you are in the Willy Wonka factory. The decor is on point! Once everyone in your time slot has arrived, you enter into the “candy shop”. You are greeted by people dressed up as candy elves (I honestly can’t remember if they were trying to be elves, but that is what came to my head real quick LOL). She explains the museum and the Do’s and Don’ts. The number one rule was to not eat the candy off the displays, and what does AnnDrew do…
After that, we were free to explore. Every room had different exhibits and everything was made of different types of candy. There were small placards next to each exhibit explaining how many pieces of candy were used to make it and how many calories it had. Some of them went up to 18,000 calories! My favorite part of the museum was the confetti room and the marshmallow pit. It was such a fun time AND it wad the first thing we did on my birthdayyyyy!
