HOLIDAY FUN AT THE HAMPTONS

We decided to go to The Hamptons for the holiday to get some fun and relaxation all in one! For those of you that are unfamiliar with The Hamptons, here is a quick rundown. The Hamptons make up a group of villages and hamlets on the South Fork of Long Island. At the very end of this fork lies Montauk, a formerly quaint fishing and surfing town turned rich celebrity hipster mecca. Ask anyone who vacations in The Hamptons what their favorite is and you’ll get many different answers. As of now, Sag Harbor is my favorite. The other Hamptons are in order from West to East: Westhampton, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Amagansett and then Montauk, nicknamed ‘The End’ by locals for…obvious reasons. There are plenty of bright new restaurants, cheery cocktail clubs and beachfront fun. Fashion and beauty shops are popping up all over the East End. And the social circuit is as poppin as ever with big-ticket parties nearly every weekend. It is perfect to visit The Hamptons for a quick getaway – with weekdays probably being the best to avoid the large crowds.

We ate good had a great time even though it was a million degrees lol. Since it was the 4th of July when we went, we went to the Parade and saw some fireworks. I wanted to share a recap of what we did in case anyone wanted to take the trip.

Where we stayed:

We spread our time our between Bayview Resort and Capri. Bayview is more on the quiet and relaxing side, while Capri was more of the fun spot. Bayview Resort is right on the water, so you get to sit on the dock and take in all of the great views!

We ate really good while we were in The Hamptons. Some of the restaurants we went to were:

Dopo – Sag Harbor

This place is so cute and the food is all that!

Rumba – Hampton Bays

They have THE best rum punch! Omg it was so good! They also have awesome views.

Oreya – Inside of Capri

We ate there while at the Pool Party and the food was good! They also had this drink that instantly became my fav. It was rose ice pops in a glass of rose!!

Out of The Blue Seafood- Southampton

We had good seafood here! It was really fresh!

Some other options to visit are Barons Cove and Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor.

At the farthest end of the island is Montauk Lighthouse. Even if you don’t get to climb up to the top of the Lighthouse, it’s worth a stop to admire the view and watch all the people fishing off the rocks. You could also do a bunch of hikes around Montauk Point State Park.

We were only there for a few days, so we obviously didn’t do everything you can do in the Hamptons. I have been there a bunch of times before, so I made a list of fun things to do/restaurants to visit while there.

If you feel like having some dim sum with Champagne, check out Jue Lan Club, a clubby modern Chinese restaurant named after a secret art society from the 1930s, is opening a 6,000-square-foot night spot in Southampton.

The action begins during the day with a three-course “bottomless brunch” with unlimited mimosas, bloody Marys or screwdrivers ($34.95). On weekend nights, the Elm & Main lounge takes over the backroom and features D.J.s and an open kitchen till 4 a.m.

The Hamptons restaurateur, Zach Erdem, is expanding his night life empire. Mr. Erdem, the owner of the poppin 75 Main in Southampton, opened 4 new spots. First is Kozu, a 250-seat Japanese restaurant with a large patio overlooking Main Street. Daniel and Derek Koch, the party promoters, held their Champagne brunches there on Saturdays. I’m not sure if they still do. Behind it is Summer House, a late-night lounge with a patio filled with white-linen daybeds and hydrangeas.

Mr. Erdem is reopening the former 1Oak space as AM, a booming nightclub with graffiti-decorated walls, headlining D.J.s, and gyrating burlesque dancers from The Box. And when it’s time to sleep, Mr. Erdem’s Hotel ZE (at the same address as Kozu) has five suites and four rooms designed by Costas Kondylis. Rates start at $800 on weekends.

FYI – Although Uber is still banned in East Hampton, getting around the East End is easier (and cheaper) this summer with the Hampton Hopper, a mint-green school bus that operates 12 stops from Sag Harbor village to Montauk. Single rides are $12; unlimited daily passes, $20. It runs Thursdays to Sundays; download its app for a schedule. Had too much champagne at the party?
