If you are in NY and in need of a quick getaway, you must visit The Chatwal Lodge. We recently got back from our Catskills getaway and we had a great time. Built on land that was part of Chapin Park – the 18,000-acre private game and wildlife reserve acquired by entrepreneur Chester Chapin in 1891 – The Chatwal Lodge is an incredible experience in upstate New York. The lodge has a feeling of an intimate upstate compound and it hosts 11 guest rooms and suites. Rooms range from $800-$2700 a night. We stayed in the Stone Cottage and loved everything about it. 22-foot vaulted ceilings, cozy stone fireplace and lake views made this cottage the perfect luxury escape. I love staying somewhere that gives me everything I need while also adding luxury touches that make you feel like a queen/king! I truly enjoyed this property and loved how the entire staff was so personable and went out of their way to assist in any way.

Check out our Catskills getaway recap:

RESTAURANT

Rustic Grill is the restaurant on site and the farm to table cuisine is delish! The Chatwal Lodge’s main restaurant makes the most of its proximity to local Catskills farms and bakeries. Chef Jesse Kloskey’s refined rustic American cuisine dates back to his Wisconsin childhood as well as time spent cooking in Napa’s Michelin-starred restaurants. Consisting of lunch, dinner and a weekend brunch, Rustic Grill celebrates the wonders of nature and offers a warm atmosphere.

If you go, I recommend getting the tuna tartare, the duck and the mashed potatoes! Those were my favorites.

THINGS WE DID

While on our staycation, we went Fly Fishing for the first time! I was excited and nervous to try this but they offer lessons, so you can learn before hitting the stream. Our instructor was very knowledgable and patient, so it made it easy to pick up. It was super cold outside, so the fish were scarce. We plan to go back in the spring, so we can actually catch something.

If fly fishing isn’t your thing, there are a lot of other activities offered by the property. You can do archery, horseback riding, boating, go into town to the casino, indoor water park, winery and more.

SIGHTS AROUND THE PROPERTY

The property is beautiful and there is so much to see. While going on a walk, you can spot some deer crossing the road or an eagle flying by. There is a recreation room that has an awesome game room. Bowling, ping pong, TV, card tables, a movie room and more! We went up to the movie room with some other guests and watched the Giants vs Eagles game and it was so fun. The chairs are hand carved out of wood but still give you the ability to recline. I was so impressed!

OUTFIT DETAILS

Of course, I had to throw on some cute cabin looks while we were away. I’ve added some links to the outfits below:
