Being a mom is very hard yet rewarding work! I applaud the moms that can look fabulous while getting the job done. Every week I am going to highlight a “Hot Mom”. I define a Hot Mom as a mother that takes care of her children and still handles her business. Looking fabulous while doing it is the cherry on top. 😉

Like Beyonce says in Run The World…

Strong enough to bear the children. Then get back to business.

This weeks Hot Mom is Caasi Cofer. I asked her some questions about her motherhood experience and here is what she said.

How old are you?

29

Where are you from?
Queens, living in NYC and OKC

How old is your daughter?
Lyric Ella Ivey is 8 months old

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
My favorite thing about being a mom is seeing the world anew through her eyes. Every time she smiles, my heart warms up and every time she laughs, I feel like the funniest person on the planet. I learn something new about her everyday, and watching her grow just amazes me! In these short 8 months she’s been on this Earth, she’s taught me how to become selfless and live my life with greater purpose.

What has been your funniest moment being a mom thus far?

Funniest moment being a mom was taking our first flight. I was super nervous and double checked my “flying with a newborn” checklist four times. Lyric was about 6 weeks old and already a great sleeper. I had so many things stuffed in my “for baby” carry on, it was ridiculous – but I was prepared. We finally board the plane and as soon as I began nursing her, she fell asleep – for the whole ride. Then I woke her up (due to a layover) and again she fell asleep for the whole next plane ride. Never once opened the baby bag. So on the second leg, I’m a little more relaxed knowing that I’m close to my destination, and I decide to go into my purse and grab my headphones to zone out to some music. No purse. I start freaking out thinking I left it on the other flight and as I’m trying to silently search under the seat without waking the baby, the flight attendant notices my awkwardness and asks if I’m okay. I tell her my purse with all my money and ID and keys and phone and basically everything life essential is in this bag that I left on the other flight. She tells me she’ll make a call once we land and everything will be fine. Now I’m anxious and annoyed. Once we land, the gate agent is calling around and they didn’t find any bag. I make the dreadful call to my fiancé (who told me not to overpack) and tell him I lost my bag. He immediately starts laughing and said “You packed your purse inside the baby bag babe, don’t you remember?”. Well, no I didn’t remember that until he said that and yes, I then felt like the stupidest person on the planet. I let out a sigh of relief and looked at Lyric and laughed, she actually chuckled back with a smile. (Which is unusual for a not quite 2month old). It was also her first time ever mimicking my smile – my heart lit up! I’m glad that happened on our first flight, because now 35 flights later, I’ve turned into a self-proclaimed professional infant traveler. I always pack light – especially for a flight.
