I just got back from an amazing trip in Italy and Spain! I was just sitting here thinking “wow” because that trip was just the best experience! I want to take you all through the trip itinerary and list any tips I learned along the way. Once you are in Europe, it’s very easy to get around to multiple different cities and countries, so you should take advantage of that. We decided once we were in Italy, we would try to visit a few different places to get the best experience.  Our hub was Milan. Our hotel was there and we just went to a different place everyday.

FIRST DAY- MILAN

TRANSIT INFORMATION:

The first and main thing I want anyone to know if they plan on staying in Milan is the airport has a flat fee of 95 euros to and from the airport! If you try to use uber, it costs more than taxis. There is an App called FREE NOW that you can use to get taxis. It is similar to uber but it’s for taxis. This app is perfect if you are somewhere that doesn’t have a taxi line.

You can take a train to and from the airport, which is easy and way cheaper. It is 12-13 euros. There is also a bus you can take from the airport to central Milan. You can find many different bus companies inside.

SIGHTS TO SEE:

The first thing we went to see is the Milan Cathedral in Duomo. This cathedral is all that and is super beautiful. There are always hundreds of tourists around and millions of pigeons! These pigeons make NYC pigeons look like the sweetest birds lol. There are locals around trying to sell you a million things and even bird food to feed the pigeons. You can also get an epic picture while feeding the birds HA!

We also went to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. That is high end shopping and its also very beautiful.

Some other sights to see are:

Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie

Castello Sforzesco

Pinacoteca di Brera

Sant Ambrogio

Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology

Piazza dei Mercanti

RESTAURANT SUGGESTION:

Fresco & Cimmino

SECOND DAY – POSITANO & AMALFI COAST

TRANSIT INFORMATION:

Positano and Amalfi are far from the Airport. We flew into Naples and took a bus to the coast. If you take a cab it can cost up to 140 euros. The bus we took was the Pintour Bus and it only cost 20 euros (40 euros roundtrip). Book your seat online or email them Pintourbus.com ordini@pintourbus.com

SIGHTS TO SEE:

Once we got there, I was in LOVE!!!! It is so beautiful and I could just sit out there all day. The bus dropped us off in Amalfi and we took a water ferry to Positano after spending time in Amalfi. The ferry is only a few euros and you can buy your ticket right at the pier.

Positano has beaches, a lot of cute shops and so many places to take photos. If you want to go out in the water and take pics, you can book a boat or water taxi right at the dock . I highly recommend you go out in the water. It is an amazing experience. There are a lot of hills and steps, so make sure you have your comfortable walking shoes on.

RESTAURANT SUGGESTION:

Make sure you get a lemon ice or gelato!

The restaurant you MUST eat at is Chez Black! When I tell you it is the best EVER, trust me! The pasta has seasonings cooked into the noodles. OMG, delish! We sat next to the owner and he the sweetest man. I highly recommend this place.

THIRD DAY – FLORENCE

TRANSIT INFORMATION:

We took the train from Milan to Florence. It was about a 2 hour ride, but very comfortable. The train lets you out in the main area, so you don’t need to take a cab. We did hire a bike taxi just so we can see a lot of places in a shorter amount of time. You are able to maneuver around quicker on the bike taxi. And you can stop to get out and take pictures if you need to.

When you get off the train, there is a tourist stand with different excursion advertisements. If you want to and have the time, you can go to Pisa to see the leaning tower of Pisa! There are also other ones to do, but that one seemed cool to me.

SIGHTS TO SEE:

Florence is the capital of the Tusany region and it is all so beautiful. The architecture, the details, everything is so amazing! Make sure you go see:

Florence Cathedral

Giotto’s Campanile

Palazzo Vecchio

Ponte Vecchio

Basilica of Santa Croce

Baptistery of St. John

Uffizi Palace and Gallery

Piazza della Signoria

Boboli Gardens

RESTAURANT SUGGESTION:

We ate at Fiorino Doro and mannnnn that fish was unlike anything I ever had and I have eaten at some amazing restaurants!

FOURTH DAY – ROME

TRANSIT INFORMATION:

We flew from Milan to Rome and took a taxi to our first stop, which was the Colosseum. It cost 50 euros. Instead of taking a taxi back to the airport, we took the metro – easier and way cheaper.

SIGHTS TO SEE:

Colosseum – you are able to go inside and visit. We lucked up and went on a day that had free admission. You can look that up and see which day it is and save yourself 12 euros. When we wanted to get to the other side of town, we took the bus, which is quick and easy.

Roman Forum

Trevi Fountain – go and make a wish 😉

Piazza Navona

St. Peter’s Square

St. Peter’s Basilica

Sistine Chapel

Pantheon

RESTAURANT SUGGESTION:

We sat outside and ate at Oppio Caffe. The Colosseum is directly behind you and it’s out of this world. You can also get some great photos with that as your backdrop. My friend suggested we eat at Il Gabriello and he said it is the best pasta. We tried to eat there but they weren’t open for lunch, so we went to Dilla and this place was perfect.

FIFTH DAY – BARCELONA, SPAIN

TRANSIT INFORMATION:

We flew to Barcelona and the flight was about an hour and 40 minutes. Once we landed, we took the aerobus into the city, which was 5.90 euros. It is a nice ride and is about 30 minutes. If you want to take it, you will see them once you leave the airport. They run back to back and will take you back to the airport.

SIGHTS TO SEE:

Barcelona is beautiful!! I didn’t know what to expect but when we got there I was so happy we went! We got on a bike taxi and he took us all over! He was great and he actually lived in NYC for a good amount of time, so his English is on point. If you ever go to Barcelona, call him and he will take you around and explain the history on anything you want to know. He is super knowledgable!

SIXTH DAY – LONDON, UK

I ended my trip in London. I have been here a few times and I love this city! I didn’t do the tourist thing when I was there, it was more chill for me!

Above all, make sure you drink some wine, eat gelato in every city, live your best life and enjoy your time!
