Before you have kids, people always tell you to enjoy your time while it still belongs to you. You never truly understand what they mean until you actually become a mom.

Having kids gives you a new sense of purpose that is on a whole new level. You now have a human being to care for! What a responsibility! This cute little person relies on you for everything.  Caring for someone around the clock can become overwhelming at times; especially on top of your other daily tasks you have. To ease any overwhelming feelings, moms should definitely schedule in some “me time”.  How can you care for someone else if you don’t take care of yourself? You can’t be your best self unless you take some time to recharge.

I work at home, so I couldn’t even imagine how moms feel that have to go into an office space everyday. For a career mom, it can get tiring quickly since you have to take care of the kids, home and a husband. Where do you find time for you?

Take as little as an hour just to go to the gym, mall or even starbucks.

Here are some different “Me Time” pampering ideas:

  • Early morning pampering – If you can wake up half hour or more before anyone in the house. During this quiet time, take a long invigorating shower, have a peaceful cup of tea, or even a quick walk around the block in the fresh morning air.

  • Pampering your body – At the end of the day take a nice warm bath. Put teabags or cucumber slices on your eyes for extra comfort benefits. Go get a mani and pedi! Some women are on strict schedules so make sure you set aside 2 hours to get your nails and feet done. It will make a world of difference and will have you feeling like you!

  • Pampering your spirit – try some new deep breathing exercises. Draw in a deep breath, feel it all the way down in your stomach, hold it for a few seconds, then slowly exhale. This can be done at any time. If you get a chance at home (sans the kiddos), light some scented candles, sit in a quiet spot and breathe in the calming environment. Use this time to unwind.

As moms, we tend to feel guilty if we are away from the kids too long. Do not feel guilty for taking time to recharge your batteries.  It will do good for everyone 😉
