I asked a college friend of mine, Ashley Patterson, to tell us about how she balances working out and family life. Below is what she said…

I’m a first time mom with a 3-month old attached to my hip. Finding time to work out postpartum is one of the most difficult things to do. It is so easy to come up with an excuse as to why I just don’t have time because so many other things require my attention. We have chosen to not put our son Gage in daycare (just yet) so on top of finding the time, I also have to figure out what to do with the little one.

I have a super supportive fiancé and he helps me make it work. He knows how important it is for me to get back to my pre baby weight and I’m sure he’s tired of me complaining about how I still can’t fit my clothes. Last night after work he met me at our communities’ private gym and trained me while keeping our son entertained and even integrated Gage into my workout!

When the workout was finished we headed home where I folded 3 loads of laundry, packed for a work trip, fed Gage, washed bottles, put him to bed, took a 4 minute shower (if that is even considered a shower LOL) and hooked myself to the breast pump where my right boob simply refused to do anything!

It’s tough but we are mom’s and that’s just what we do!

Ashley and her fiancé are a great example of teamwork makes the dreamwork! Besides being pros when it comes to fitness, they also started a camp called Practicing with the Pros. This camp is a 4 hour clinic designed for young men where they are trained by former and current NFL players. For more information on their business, click here.
